# Why does it say my eSIM is not supported or not compatible?

This error usually means either:
* Your phone is **carrier locked**, or
* Your phone is **not eSIM-compatible**.

---

#### How to check if your phone supports eSIM
1. Dial **`*#06#`** on your phone.
2. If your device supports eSIMs, you will see an **EID number** displayed.
3. If no EID is shown, your device does not support eSIMs.

---

#### How to check if your phone is unlocked
1. Go to **Settings > General > About**.
2. Scroll down to **Carrier Lock**.
3. An unlocked phone will say: **“No SIM restrictions.”**

If your phone is locked, you will need to contact your carrier to unlock it before you can use the Instabridge eSIM.
